Background:

Rony and his family bought El Cedrito farm about 20 years ago. looking to improve the quality of life. They were astonished to learn that Narino was a privileged area for quality coffee since it can grow at high altitudes, which predisposes specialty coffee production. So they decided to start planting the Caturro variety and now they have Castillo and Colombia too.

Besides coffee, they also grow other crops such as bananas, oranges, lemons, and tangerines for the consumption of his parents and his wife. He also has a nature reserve area with eucalyptus trees and a small river running through the farm

Nariño has numerous coffee-growing areas. It is a privileged area for coffee production, but it also represents some challenges such as the lack of shade to protect crops from direct sunlight. Relatively high humidity and wind, as well as the microclimate of the canyon that surrounds the farms, make the climate and soil great for producing specialty coffee. Alternative drying methods, such as honey and natural processing, are traditional in this department located in the southwest of Colombia.
